JOB TITLE: Management Accountant
DIVISIONS: Finance
LOCATION: Hertford Head Office
REPORTS TO: Finance Director
CREATED: January 2026

1. JOB PURPOSE: The preparation, reconciliation, analysis and commentary of monthly Management Accounts for the business units to ensure timely and accurate reporting. To assist the Finance Director as required, with reconciliations and ad-hoc enquiries. Deliver service and support to internal and external customers in a friendly, welcoming, and courteous manner with the aim of customer satisfaction and long-term customer retention. Promote company products and services wherever possible, building strong business relationships that will aid delivery of company targets, growth with increased sales revenues and profits.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Preparation of month end accounts for the business units including P&Ls, Balance Sheets, reconciliations and variance analysis to budgets and forecasts. 2. Assisting with the year end for the Vision Group of companies and liaising with external auditors.
3. Review of Purchase and Sales ledger activities.
4. Handling of Internal and External queries and requests
5. Assist with the effective management of stock levels, spares, consumables, and materials ensuring all company processes and procedures are met.
6. Monthly reports & reconciliations.
7. Support and assist with annual internal and external auditing.
8. Provide support to Accounts Assistant.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Relevant accounting and numerical experience
• Excellent numerical ability and skills
• Production and reporting of validated Management Accounts and associated commentary
• Data manipulation experience and skills (particularly strong Excel skills)
• Working with auditors and preparation of year end accounts
• Use of Finance and operational platforms (e.g. Sage 200)
• Excellent communications skills at all levels
• Participation in projects for improved efficiency and initiatives
• Understanding of service levels and service delivery to clients
• Proficient MS Office skills, Specifically MS Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Ability to successfully follow and improve processes, meet deadlines, and deliver required results

6. COMMUNICATIONS AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Internal • Work with Finance team to achieve goals and targets • Ensure all processes are followed and best practice is followed and developed • Communicate with colleagues in all business areas and Management team to ensure sharing of information and best practice • Ensure company procedures are adhered to, always minimising any business risks External • Relationship with external bodies to ensure customer satisfaction levels are maintained.
7. SCOPE FOR IMPACT This role acts as an important part of the Finance function, ensuring the timely and accurate management and reporting of financial data, enabling the company’s financial goals to be achieved. The role holder operates at internal and external level and as an ambassador for Finance support. Activity will also be required with improved company processes, procedures and Company initiatives such as projects and new initiatives for increased efficiency.
